Mobility in the Field Service Management Space Study
Study Results: This NEW IFS study reflects how field service technicians and maintenance professionals access enterprise data from handheld mobile devices like smartphones and tablets while in the field.

NEW Study Findings:

Companies currently involved with field service management report relatively low levels of and quality of access to enterprise service and asset management data from mobile devices.

While 82% of respondents said they had at least some access to data from mobile devices, less than 40% said they were currently using this access to perform work.

Cloud Hosting Preferences for ERP Software Study
Study Results: In this NEW study, IFS measured the level of usage, awareness of and preference for software-as-a-service (SaaS) versus on-premise and other cloud-based delivery models when it comes to delivering mission-critical applications like ERP.

High Level Findings:

Usage of SaaS ERP is low in this sector, between 5-20%.

Interest in SaaS is lower than for on-premise and traditional hosting.

The vast majority of respondents have some level of familiarity with SaaS.

While Private Cloud has not received the coverage in the IT and business media that SaaS has, respondents were slightly more interested in Private Cloud than they were in SaaS.

Enterprise 2.0 in Industrial ERP Study
The findings conclude that:
• The ability to integrate with external social media tools on the public internet does not weigh heavily on the selection process for ERP. However the adoption of social media functions to include collaborative and communication capabilities is viewed with importance but is not seen as a major influencer.
• Manufacturing executives are optimistic about the potential benefits of social functionally embedded in ERP and realize that there could be great value if their ERP application includes features that mirror the functionality of online social networking tools.

2010 Project Management Technology and the Manufacturing Recovery Report
This study was conducted by a third-party research organization on the state of Project Based Solutions (PBS) in the manufacturing space. This study is based on a survey of 341 manufacturing executives from companies between $100 million and several billion dollars in revenue. Respondents were asked to categorize themselves based on how project-dependent their business was and the degree to which their project management tools were integrated with their ERP solution. They also described their capabilities in the important areas of risk management, their degree of awareness about PBS and the benefits they expect or receive from PBS solutions. Respondents also answered questions about how they plan to ramp back up during the economic recovery, and the role they see for PBS in managing that process.
